YouTube seems to be starting to roll out its social notes feature to a select group of users. Screenshots of YouTube’s official invitation to join a pilot program for its new social media feature are popping up all over social media, according to 9 on 5 Google.

YouTube first announced its public notes feature in June. The new feature allows viewers to post short captions that provide additional context or correct information on specific video content. The public notes feature comes ahead of the US presidential election.

There’s no official launch date for the new feature, but YouTube has added a section to its “help” website with instructions for writing and submitting notes. We’ve also reached out to Google for comment on this new feature.

The trial program is currently only available in English on US mobile devices, according to the support page. The company previously said it would invite participants via email or through their Creators Studio account. A select group of test subjects will provide feedback to YouTube to help the platform decide which notes are “helpful,” “somewhat helpful” or “not helpful,” before rolling out its public notes feature to the public, according to YouTube’s official blog.
