Wesley Snipes Breaks Guinness Records With Blade Return

Wesley Snipes is getting his flowers after his surprise MCU appearance.

Guinness World Records announced this week that the actor claimed two titles while reprising his role as Blade Deadpool and Wolverine came after establishing a live-action role in his 1998 solo film debut.

With his return to come almost 26 years after first playing the half-vampire “daywalker” (also known as Eric Brooks), Snipes struck out. Deadpool and Wolverine star Hugh Jackman’s Longest Career as a Live Action Drama Character. After Jackman first played Wolverine (also known as Logan) in the 2000s X-Menwas expected to beat Patrick Stewart’s Professor Charles Xavier for the title with his latest performance.

More than 19 years since he was last seen Blade: Trinity (2004), Snipes also claimed the longest gap between the character’s appearances in Marvel Films. Alfred Molina previously held the record for his return as Doctor Octopus in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), after 17 years Spider-Man 2 (2004).

After first collaborating with Reynolds on Blade: TrinitySnipes admitted that he “didn’t think it was possible” to recast the character until Reynolds reached out about the cameo.

“I didn’t think he could pull it off,” Snipes said Entertainment Weekly. “I didn’t think Marvel was involved. Disney was into it. And also because they had Mahershala [Ali], you know, distribute its next version. So, it didn’t make sense to me.”

Marvel first confirmed this Blade reboot with Ali back in 2019, but the project has encountered several delays, including directors Bassam Tariq and Yann Demange walking out of the film and the 2023 WGA strike.

Blade is set to premiere on Nov. 7, 2025.
