The new Zelda video features cute horse riding and smoothie shops

Nintendo just dropped The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. That’s a top-down switch installation instead of a link. The six-minute video focuses on “Hyrule travel,” so there’s a lot of good stuff here about the kingdom, and more importantly, the world map.
This looks like a new map. Many people thought that this game would raise the map The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, but it doesn’t seem that way. Other landmarks, however, are in the same place. The castle is in the middle of nowhere, for example, and the mountains are high up.
Otherwise, this game includes all the different cultures and towns from the 3D Zelda games. You can meet Gorons, Zora and enter the all-female Gerudo Town. This is also the first top-down Zelda game to feature horse-traversing. There are a few horses in the trailer, though none quite like the world famous Epona. It is possible that Princess Zelda’s white horse appears Wild Spirit hanging around. In any case, they are all very good.
The trailer also shows some good kooky stuff, and we all love it when Nintendo gets weird. There are smoothie shops spread throughout Hyrule, candy-focused Deku Scrubs and more.
Finally, there is a newly added ability for Zelda called Bind. It forces objects and creatures in the game world to follow you around, for puzzle-solving purposes.
This is all good news. This doesn’t look like a throwaway “end of console’s lifespan”. It looks lovely and smart. The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will be released on September 26.
