Simone Biles Talks ‘Mental Health’ After Winning Gold Medal

Simone Biles gave his fans some important advice after his historic win at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The 27-year-old gymnastics powerhouse took to Instagram on Friday, August 2, to share a quiet photo of herself sitting cross-legged on a chair, her arms resting comfortably on her lap, and her eyes closed. The message?

“Mental health is important,” she captioned the post.

This post comes after Biles’ incredible performance in Paris, where she earned the highest score in the women’s gymnastics individual final on August 1. Her performance earned her her second gold medal of the Games, with Brazil. Rebeka Andrade silver medalists and Team USA’s Suni Lee to take home the bronze.

Speaking to reporters after the win, Biles confirmed that she saw her therapist at 7 a.m. in the finals, saying, “I’m making sure I’m mentally healthy.”

In addition to the gold medal, the Texas native, who is often hailed as the GOAT trainer for his unparalleled achievements, received another special gift after his latest victory: a stunning goat pendant necklace. The bile has just passed Shannon Miller to become the most decorated American Olympic gymnast of all time. “This is definitely our rescue mission. I feel like we all have a lot to give,” Biles said at a June press conference. He spoke on behalf of himself and his teammates, expressing a shared commitment to competition and their love of the game, rather than external validation. “We’re going to go out there, and we’re going to do our best.”

Despite facing criticism and being called a “quitter” by some after her struggles with mental health, Biles remained strong and unfazed by naysayers.

Speaking of evil, he laughed, “They’re still going to say, ‘Oh my god, are you going to quit again, are you going to quit again?’ And if I did, what would you do about it? Tweet me more? Like, I’ve been working with it for three years. But yes, they want to see us fail.”
