He had several world championship gold medals before making his Olympic debut in Rio de Janeiro in […]

“I don’t just count; I don’t keep statistics,” Simone told reporters NBC News, referring to reports that he beat Miller, 47. “I just come out here and do what I have to do, and I do what I love and I enjoy it. Honestly, I would have to Google that. “

After the US women’s gymnastics team claimed their gold medals, Simone took to social media to share photos of herself and her teammates holding up the American flag – while appearing to throw shade at her former teammate. MyKayla Skinner.

“Lack of talent, laziness, Olympic champions,” Simone wrote on Instagram on Tuesday.

Simone’s caption may have been a reference to Skinner’s comments earlier this month when he criticized the 2024 gymnasts for not having the same “good work ethic” as past Team USA members.

“Without Simone, I feel like the talent and depth isn’t what it used to be,” Skinner, 27, who played on the 2016 Olympic team and won a silver medal at the 2020 Olympics, explained in a YouTube video in June, while discussing the Olympic trials. “I mean it’s obvious that a lot of girls don’t work hard. Girls don’t have the energy to work.”

Skinner noted that it is also difficult because of SafeSport, which was founded in 2017.

“Coaches can’t get into the athletes, which is down in some ways, but at the same time, to get where you need to be in gymnastics, you have to be … aggressive, a little bit stronger,” he said.

At the time, Simone responded to the controversy on social media, saying: “Not everyone needs a microphone and a platform.”

Skinner later apologized for his comments, saying they were “misinterpreted.”

“I love and support all successful girls and I’m proud of them,” she said in an Instagram Story earlier this month. “It was about going back to my gym and the way of working is different compared to when I was doing gymnastics in the area. Martha [Karolyi] time.”
