Sick Shmiedlova Makes History for Slovakia at the Paris Olympics

Anna Karolina Schmiedlova he makes history for himself and his country at the Paris Olympics.
The 29-year-old knocked them both out of the 2024 Wimbledon final in his potential run to the semi-finals, where he became the first Slovakian to reach an Olympic semi-final since Miloslav Mecir in 1988.
Schmiedlova is ranked 67th and is the first woman from Slovakia to reach the semifinals of the Olympics.

Schmiedlova had only one Top-10 finish in her career before these Olympics. He has tripled that number in his last two rounds. All three of his Top-10 wins came at the Olympics. He’s 0-11 against the Top-10 otherwise.

“The best game of my life [at] the Olympics, for my country and the people around me. It’s a big thing. It’s amazing for me and it means a lot,” said Schmiedlova, according to the ITF.
World No. The former 26 is enjoying the moment and is getting a lot of support from fans and friends back home. “I have never had so many messages and so much support. It’s fun for me,” he said.
