Questions We Need Answered Weekly After Season 1 of Consideration
[ad_1]
I Presumed Innocent The season finale answered many of the viewers’ questions but also left some things up in the air.
I Jake Gyllenhaal-the lead series became a social media sensation after the launch of Apple TV+ in June 2024, becoming the broadcaster’s most-watched drama. Based on the best-selling book of the same name by Scott Turowthis eight-episode series was not the first screen adaptation of the novel. In 1990 Presumed Innocent the film starred Harrison Ford – but it has a completely different ending.
Spoilers for Presumed Innocent ahead.
Gyllenhaal stars as Chicago prosecutor Rusty Sabich, who is accused of the first brutal murder after his colleague Carolyn Polhemus (Renate Reinsve) was found dead in his home. Later it turned out that a married man Rusty and Carolyn were having an affair – he tried to end it, which made him very upset. Although it looks bitter for Rusty as the case goes to court, he ended up getting out of this case.
As for who killed Carolyn, at first it seemed like viewers would be left with no answers. However, in the final moments of the season 1 finale, the killer is revealed. The night Carolyn died, Rusty returned to her home, found her mutilated body, and staged a crime scene – falsely linking Carolyn’s murder to the MO of a previously convicted murderer. After following his wife Barbara (Ruth Negga) car, Rusty talks to him about committing a crime. Barbara, horrified by her husband’s guilt, begins to deny his guilt but is interrupted by their daughter Jaden (Chase the Infiniti) who admits he did it.
While visiting Carolyn to ask her to end the affair, Jaden finds out that his father’s girlfriend is pregnant. In a fit of rage, he picks up a fireplace poker with which he brutally beats Carolyn to death. Jaden then tries to cover up his crime by burying the fire poker. The fire poker finally returns as Jaden tries to save his father’s case by turning it over to prosecutor Tommy Molto (Peter Sarsgaard) apartment.
Presumed Innocent season 1 comes to an end with Rusty telling Jaden and Barbara that they will never talk about Carolyn’s death again, keeping their once fragile marriage and family intact against all odds.
Since the show has been announced for a second season, there are still many questions that need answers. Keep scrolling for the full breakdown:
What will happen to Jaden?
Jaden reveals that he learned about alienation in his high school class, but he seems to remember killing Carolyn. Will the crime eat him alive or will the family be able to live with the killer under their roof? There is also the possibility that Jaden snaps and confesses or kills again.
Does Kyle Know What His Sister Is Doing?
Jaden and his younger brother, Kyle (Kingston Rumi Southwick) were a support system during Rusty’s murder trial. Although he was painted as a suspect at one point when video footage showed him cycling past Carolyn’s house on the night of her death, it is not clear whether the young man knew what his sister had done. There is also the question of whether he was also involved in the crime.
Will Barbara and Rusty Stay Together?
Barbara told Rusty during the season finale to pack an emergency bag in case he cheated on her again. But does her cover up of Jaden’s crime change things? Will they still project this happy fake relationship?
What will happen to Tommy?
Sarsgaard revealed in August 2024 that he has no plans to reprise his role in the show’s second season. “I think I’m a one-season person,” he told IndieWire. But what does that mean for prosecutor Tommy? Since no one has been convicted of Carolyn’s murder, he may be moving on to bigger pastures wisely.
However, author Turow wrote a Presumed Innocent sequel in 2011 Innocent which is a rematch between Tommy and Rusty. So anything is possible for their future.
What happened between Tommy and Carolyn?
Since Tommy is gone, viewers may not get this answer. However, it was often said that Carolyn felt uncomfortable with Tommy and did not want to work with him. He even filed a complaint about people’s issues. But what actually happened between them was never revealed.
Why Didn’t Carolyn Talk To Her Son?
Carolyn’s relationship with her son, Michael Caldwell (Tate Birchmore), is debatable but also not really. Yes, they were separated but why? And, honestly, why was he outside Carolyn’s home filming her and Rusty the night she died?
Will Season 2 Continue the Story?
It is not clear what story the second season will follow. However, Apple TV + announced that the program “will appear in a brand new case.” When it comes to Turow’s official thrillers, Rusty is not a recurring character. So it’s unclear if Gyllenhaal will appear. However, the actor will remain as an Executive Producer alongside Turow, David E. Kelley again JJ Abrams.
