Jinger Duggar I’ve experienced the highs and lows of growing up on television, including a particularly heartbreaking encounter at a dude ranch.
“We were in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. This dude’s farm was two and a half hours away at any given time and the nearest town didn’t have anything,” Duggar, 30, told the husband. Jeremy Vuolo Wednesday, August 7, YouTube video. “We drove and drove and it seemed like we would never get there. … It is a farm for middle-class men.”
Jinger and many of her siblings – she is one of them Jim Bob Duggar again Michelle Duggar19 children – were delighted with the opportunity to ride horses.
“We come to this young man’s farm and say, ‘This is the best! We can ride horses no matter how many days we’ve been there,’” Jinger said. “One of the days they were taking us out on my trip and I was riding a horse and they were like, ‘This horse is too cold, it’s slow.’ But, they failed to tell me one thing.”
According to Jinger, breeders ignore the fact that horses hate water.
“We came to this lake [that] it was like a wide stream, but the horse stopped there for a second and jumped into the river with me on the back and it started to roar,” he said. “I was holding on to the phone and it shook me a little, then they took me away.”
The track ride was part of the footage of the 19 Children and counting the pilot, who was originally called 16 Children and counting based on the number of children Jim Bob and Michelle had at that time. According to Jinger, the scary equine encounter didn’t make it to the episode but started a big scare for her.
“It’s possible [they didn’t use the footage] because I was traumatized [and] they were trying to be nice,” he guessed. “In general, that’s good TV.”
Jinger and her family performed at TLC’s 19 Children between 2008 and 2015 before the show was canceled during his older brother Joh Duggar‘s molestation scandal. Josh, 36, admitted he sexually assaulted younger girls, including his sister. Years later, TLC greenlit a The Countdown Continues being disappointed with how the family continues this practice. The Countdown Continues was canceled by the network in 2021 after Josh’s child pornography conviction. He was convicted of two counts of obtaining and possessing pornographic images, receiving a 12-year prison sentence.
Since The Countdown Continues after all, Jinger and Vuolo, 36, have been focusing on raising their two daughters – Felicity, 6, and Evangeline, 3 – to stay out of the limelight.
“We talked about it before we had kids and whether we wanted them in the community or not,” Jinger said to herself. Us Weekly in January 2023. “And we decided to keep them out of the public eye and let them choose what they want to do. So that was just our decision. Sometimes we’ll post pictures of the back of their heads or little videos and you can hear their little voices or whatever. But not showing their faces is something we plan to stick to.”
