Jelly Roll Holds Concert To Help ‘Cancer Survivor’ Get A Better Seat

When Jelly Roll he saw a woman at his concert using an IV drip, and pointed at her on stage.
“I’ve seen a lot of crazy things in my shows. But this lady came out of here with a full IV,” said the country star (real name Jason Bradley DeFord) while performing at the Tailgates N’ Tallboys festival in Midland, Michigan in late July. In the uploaded images on TikTokthe woman told Jelly Roll, 39, that she “survived cancer.”
After hearing this, he turned to his team and said, “Let’s get him a chair” to watch the whole show. He then looked at a fan standing in the crowd and assured, “We’re going to get you off your feet, baby.” OK?”
Witches took to TikTok to applaud Jelly Roll’s act of kindness.
“We must protect this man by all means. The world needs more of him,” one user wrote, while another gushed, “I was there and saw this happen. He is an amazing person with a big heart and a lot of compassion.”
Jelly Roll had a very successful year with the single “Need a Favor” earning her her first Grammy Award for Best New Artist. But when his career took off, he was known to make time for fans battling cancer.
In July 2023, A Taste of the World reports that Jelly Roll met a 65-year-old Suzanne Durham, a Nashville-based hospice patient with lung cancer whose dying wish was to see him perform live. He gave Durham and his friends a private show that included his song “Son of a Sinner,” among others, and classic covers like “Take It Easy” by the Eagles.
Like Jelly Roll, Durham – who worked as a housekeeper for women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction – had before he struggled with addiction and drug abuse.
“I’m glad I can visit you,” he told Durham last summer. “This is good, and I’m glad you had some friends come with you. I would come to you when you are alone in bed. … I have choked before and not about [your] but because I was able to serve a woman who spent her life serving.”
He went on to say, “A person who came out of this situation changed his life and found a purpose to help people who were in that situation.”
While his past may be a cautionary tale, Jelly Roll takes comfort in knowing that his life story inspires many. “There were times in my life that were very dark, there was no hope or feeling that there was anything else [other than] that,” said Jelly Roll Us. “I couldn’t have dreamed it any other way, and certainly not on the level of what was delivered only last year.”
