How Olympians Suni Lee and Simone Biles Support Each Other

Sharing her experience has also helped Suni when it comes to her battle with eczema. And recently, the 21-year-old partnered with Eli Lilly and Company—Team USA’s health sponsor—to help others with the same diagnosis feel less alone.
“I feel like it started hard because I always felt insecure, and I think I’m ashamed to say I have eczema or to show the symptoms,” said Suni. “I know when I was beaten and it was very visible, I always tried to cover it with my makeup, which ended up making it worse. So, it didn’t help in the end. But I think being able to talk about it and working with Lilly has been amazing for me mentally because I feel so confident in my skin and now I can accept it.”
“I think that’s the message I want to send to the younger generations,” he continued, “because, when I was younger, I don’t think a lot of people were talking about it. So being someone that other people can do. Looking up is just a great feeling all around.”
And even as the Olympian adds more hardware to his trophy shelf, he’s proud of how far he’s come.
“I think I can give myself a medal for not giving up,” said Suni. “I mean there’s a lot I could have given up and a lot of things happened where I could have put this aside and moved on with my life. But I wanted the best for myself and so did I. I wanted to be able to walk away from this Olympics or this quad knowing that I gave everything I had and I don’t regret anything.”
