Here are 3 ways you can earn Hyatt Globalist status
[ad_1]
Hyatt Globalist status is among the best elite hotel status you can find. Many travelers – myself included – would argue that it is the best. Although my husband and I maintain high status through many hotel loyalty programs, we make it a priority to qualify for Hyatt Globalist status each year.
Qualifying for World of Hyatt Globalist status is not easy, as you need 60 qualifying nights or 100,000 base points per calendar year. There aren't many shortcuts to Hyatt Globalist status, although you will have Globalist status for life once you earn 1,000,000 lifetime base points. However, the basic 1,000,000 lifetime points require about $200,000 in spending with Hyatt.
Check out our Hyatt Globalist status guide to learn why so many travelers love top-tier World of Hyatt elite status. In this guide, I will discuss the three main ways to get Hyatt Globalist status.
A night of classification
As mentioned above, you can earn Hyatt Globalist status by staying 60 qualifying nights with Hyatt during a calendar year. Ideally, you will have Globalist status until February of the second calendar year following graduation.
Hyatt defines a “qualifying night” as when you stay at a Hyatt hotel or resort, pay the qualifying price or redeem a free night award and associate your membership number with the reservation. However, if you book a promotional rate that gives you a free night – such as “stay four nights and get a fifth night free rate” – the free night will not count towards your qualifying night. Similarly, staying open or paid into the group's main account will not give you a qualifying night.
You can stay with Hyatt for 60 qualifying nights during a calendar year to earn Hyatt Globalist status. If this night were at non-peak tier 1 Hyatt hotels, it would snag Globalist status for 210,000 Hyatt points each calendar year. Likewise, paying an average of $150 per night can earn you Hyatt Globalist status for $9,000 per calendar year.
But, as I will discuss in the following paragraphs, there are ways to reduce the number of nights you must stay with Hyatt each year if you want to qualify for Globalist status on eligible nights.

Double night promotions
Hyatt occasionally offers promotions that allow you to earn double category-qualifying nights. For example, Hyatt members can earn double credits for qualifying nights at Thompson and Dream hotels in early to mid-2024.

If you think you're going to fall short of the 60-night Hyatt Globalist program, it might be a good idea to reschedule your travel to maximize the double elite night promotion.
Spend on Hyatt credit cards
If you want to earn Hyatt Globalist status, you should seriously consider adding the World of Hyatt Credit Card or the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card to your wallet. Both cards allow you to earn Hyatt points on purchases and offer various benefits to Hyatt loyalists. But these cards also allow you to earn qualifying nights for categories.
With the World of Hyatt Credit Card, you'll earn five qualifying night credits every calendar year, and you'll earn two additional qualifying night credits every time you spend $5,000 on your card (you'll earn these credit nights in the calendar year in which the money is spent). As such, you can spend $140,000 on your World of Hyatt card each calendar year to earn Hyatt Globalist status.
And with the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card, you'll earn five qualifying night credits for every $10,000 in purchases each calendar year. As such, you can spend $120,000 on your Hyatt Globalist card each calendar year and maintain Hyatt Globalist status without a stay.
However, as I will discuss later in this guide, very few Hyatt loyalists will receive Globalist status only on credit card use. Instead, many devotees find the night worthy to some degree in a variety of other ways.
Gift Guest of Honor awards
In late 2023, World of Hyatt announced changes to how its popular Guest of Honor benefit works. Now, Hyatt members can earn Guest of Honor awards through the Hyatt Milestone Rewards program, and Globalist lifetime members receive five Guest of Honor awards annually.
Hyatt members who present an Honorary Rewards award to another member now earn a credit for one qualifying night when the member they gave their Honorary Rewards award to completes their stay. Therefore, offering Guest of Honor awards is now a way to earn a few eligible nights each calendar year.

Spend with Hyatt
You will also be eligible for Hyatt Globalist status any calendar year in which you accumulate 100,000 points. And you'll earn Globalist status for life once you've accumulated 1,000,000 base points over your lifetime.
Base points are different from bonus points. In particular, you'll only earn base points on eligible rates, eligible short-term charges and non-stay charges at Hyatt properties. Specifically, on these eligible spends, you'll earn 2.5 points per dollar at Hyatt Studios hotels and 5 points per dollar at other Hyatt properties.
You can earn base points for up to three rooms per night. However, the member must pay the applicable price for all rooms and occupy at least one of them, and the rooms must all be within the same hotel or resort.
To get Hyatt Globalist status, you'll need to spend $20,000 in qualifying expenses at Hyatt properties (other than Hyatt Studios hotels, which earn a lower rate) each calendar year. This use may take place in one short but very comfortable stay or in many active areas throughout the year.

The situation is the same
World of Hyatt rarely offers similar offers for social situations. However, in 2023 we saw the 90-day World of Hyatt trial and the Bilt Rewards member challenge that made it possible to earn Globalist status after just 20 nights. In late 2023, some AAdvantage members are getting a Hyatt status challenge through a partnership between American AAdvantage and World of Hyatt. Finally, Concierge Key members receive Globalist status once they link their Advantage accounts with Hyatt.
If you're looking for a shortcut to World of Hyatt status, it may be worth linking your Advantage account with Hyatt and participating in the Bilt Rewards program, as we've seen opportunities with these programs in the past.

Decide how to get Hyatt Globalist status
Unfortunately, there is no way to earn Hyatt Globalist status through a combination of base points and qualifying nights. So you'll want to consider at the beginning of each year whether you plan to earn Hyatt Globalist status for eligible nights or base points.
If you plan to qualify with base points, you'll want to focus on paid Hyatt stays at qualifying rates. You'll also want to make sure you're charging all the appropriate fees to your room to maximize the amount of base points you earn.
But if you're planning to get Hyatt Globalist status on a qualifying night, you'll probably want to earn this night through a combination of methods. For example, this year I expect to receive the following:
- 49 qualifying nights from accommodations at Hyatt hotels and resorts
- Five qualifying nights as a Hyatt World Credit Cardholder
- Qualifying nights for six categories by spending $15,000 on my World of Hyatt Credit Card
- Two nights of merit from the Guest of Honor awards
Of my 49 category-eligible nights, I booked premium rates for 15 nights, used free flight certificates for five nights and redeemed 382,000 points for another 29 nights. I earned most of my Hyatt points by spending money on my Hyatt credit card, using Hyatt promotions and transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt.

Bottom line
Hyatt Globalist status is important because of the benefits it offers per stay. However, the status' requirement of 60 category nights or 100,000 basis points can be difficult for loyalists to achieve each calendar year — especially since the thresholds for these requirements are small. But, with some planning and a World of Hyatt Credit Card or World of Hyatt Business Credit Card in your wallet, it's possible to earn Hyatt Globalist status without spending 60 nights or $20,000 with Hyatt each year.
