Former NFL QB Matt Ryan talks golf, taking hits, casting and more

Matt Ryan officially retired in April – although he last played in December 2022 – but for some experts (Brett Favre?) it’s often difficult actually sit down.
But Ryan says that won’t be a problem for him. The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback, who spent his final season with the Indianapolis Colts, was a guest on this week’s episode of GOLF’s Subpar podcast. In it they discuss Ryan’s golf game – he is close to starting – and where he plays in Atlanta.
Supar host Colt Knost also questioned this theory: “Say a team makes the playoffs and they lose their quarterback, and your phone rings…”
“I’m fine, baby,” Ryan said, smiling. “I’ve lost about 10, 12 kilos since I played. Listen, I’m proud of what I’ve done in my time, and I’m kind of free to move on. I’m glad I got this amazing job with CBS and I can still stay in the game as much as I want, but my time is up.
“That’s what I think is great about the NFL right now. The young group of quarterbacks we have in the league right now I think is going to be special. And it will be fun to watch them for the next 10, 12 years. The league is in a good place right now.”
A week after Ryan retired, he officially joined “The NFL Today” show on CBS Sports. You can watch the full interview with Ryan below.
