Crawford Vs. Madrimov: Late Night Weigh-In Sets Stage for Main Event

Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed today that the ratings for the Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov will be at 9pm this Friday at the event on Saturday August 3rd at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
Hearn Reveals Weigh-In Spectacular of the Night
Hearn says Crawford-Madrimov's weight will be outside in LA. It is late on Friday because they want it to be an “event” with music that will bring people together.
Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs), the WBA junior middleweight champion, is the underdog against Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs), but Hearn likes his boxer, Madrimov's chances of pulling off an upset against and 36 years. – he is old.
Crawford is moving up to 154 for the first time after a long layoff since July 2023 and is fighting a guy who fights in a style as unusual as he does. Madrimov is slower than Crawford and has less experience as a professional. However, he hits hard, is 29 years too young, and works very hard at his job.
Hearn didn't mention Madrimov's plan if he wins on Saturday night. If he beats Crawford, many boxing fans will be calling for him to face Canelo Alvarez in 2025. However, the Honorable Turki Alalshikh appears to be targeting Crawford against Canelo in 2025, and he may stick with that plan, even if Terence loses. in Madrimov.
It wouldn't be a good way for Crawford to get a Canelo fight. However, the Mexican star has been fighting little opposition lately with his matches with Edgar Berlanga, Jaime Munguia, and John Ryder.
If Crawford returns to the fight against Canelo with a loss to Madrimov, it will be in line with the Mexican star's recent underwhelming draw.
“On Thursday, you had a press conference at the Chinese theater. It's going to be amazing. “Friday, at 9:00 p.m., get a weigh-in outside in LA, because obviously the official weigh-in is too early,” said Eddie Hearn on iFL TV about the weigh-in of Terence Crawford vs. Ismail Madrimov- middle.
The Crawford-Madrimov weigh-in on Friday night will be interesting for East Coast fans, who will have to wait until late at night to watch it. It's good for the West Coast fans because it would catch up to them when they get off work.
“It's going to be an unbelievable crowd,” Hearn said when asked why the ratings were so late on Friday. “Why do you do it at five or six o'clock?” Why not do it as a night event with music and get people connected?”
It will be interesting to see what kind of crowd will be there on Friday because this event is so big. Crawford's fans are mostly from the state of Nebraska, while Madrimov is unknown to American fans.
It wouldn't be surprising if most of the fans who come to the scales come to see Isaac Cruz and Jose 'Rayo' Valenzuela, who some feel should be the real main event on Saturday's card.
“On Saturday, it's an eight-fight card. It's unbelievable. So, from top to bottom, to be motivated, to fight the work of the week. It's the biggest thing I've been involved with in America, and I can't wait. “I think it's a smart card,” Hearn said.
Eddie is right about Saturday's fight card. It's amazing, and easily some of the best boxing we've seen in years.
Saturday's fight card:
- Terence Crawford vs. Israel Madrimov
- Isaac 'Pitbull' Cruz vs. Jose 'Rayo' Valenzuela
- Jared Anderson vs. Martin Bakole
- David Morrell vs. Radivoje “Hot Rod” Kalajdzic
- Andy Cruz vs. Antonio Moran
- Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Jarrell Miller
“Madrimov is not a household name. You don't have to be polite about it. He is an unbelievable fighter. He is a world champion who is on the way to improve himself in the sport. When he won the world title in Saudi [against Magomed Kurbanov last March in Riyadh]”We never expected him to fight Terence Crawford,” said Hearn.
It was lucky on Madrimov's part that he got the Crawford fight because Sebastian Fundora was the one that Bud was targeting to fight for the world title at 154. Fundora chose Errol Spence, which led to Crawford going with his second choice, Madrimov to try and win the 154 world title.
“We were going to have two or three defenders, maybe we were looking for an alliance to fight Tim Tszyu or Errol Spence. Crawford is coming, and it's one of those tough decisions. As for directing Madrimov, it's probably not a fight to watch. But according to the opportunity, according to the money, according to the inheritance, and according to the belief of the group, he accepted it. “
The money Madrimov will make from the Crawford fight is far more than what he would make against Tszyu, Sebastian Fundora, or Errol Spence. Turki Alalshikh has built himself a huge undercard for Saturday's Crawford-Madrimov fight, and we probably wouldn't have seen that if Madrimov had fought those other guys.
“Not, 'Oh, a few quid.' He accepted it like, 'I can win this fight.' [Madrimov’s trainer] Joel Diaz, 'We think we can win this fight.'”
This is Madrimov's Super Bowl on Saturday, and a win over Crawford will make him a big name in sports. Even if Madrimov doesn't get the Canelo fight, a rematch with Crawford has been offered. The Nebraska native has too much pride in not trying to avenge the loss to Madrimov.
