Clark Hunt’s Daughter Ava Undergoes Surgery After Hiking Accident

“This little thing fell on the mountain today while we were walking [and] went to the ER for surgery on a deep wound,” his mother, Tavia Shackles, he wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, August 6, adding a crying face emoji. “It was a difficult day. Praise God he has recovered and is already smiling. Please let’s pray soon [and] full recovery!”
Ava, 18, re-shared her mom’s message on her Instagram Story and let fans know she’s home and recovering.
“Update: surgery went very well and I’m back home watching my favorite @simonebiles!! I feel great (but maybe still a little drunk),” she captioned her bandaged knee as she watched the US gymnastics team compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics. “Thank you for all your sweet messages and prayers.”
Tavia, 53, and Clark, 59, are also the parents of a daughter Gracie Hunt25, and a son Knobel Hunt22.
Ava did not provide further details about her injury – or if it will affect her college cheerleading career. The teenager graduated this year from a private Christian high school in Dallas, and announced in March that she had committed to Southern Methodist University’s cheer team. (In addition to both of his parents being SMU alumni, his brother, Knobel, is a current student and plays for a private college football team.)
“It’s official!! So beyond thankful for the opportunity to continue doing what I love! Dress up!!” Ava posted a series of photos showing her signing her contract with SMU.
Hopefully, the injury won’t slow down the youngster’s busy life, as Ava has enjoyed an adventure-filled summer. In addition to attending a Morgan Wallen in concert with his friends, he traveled extensively, including visiting the White House with the Chiefs in June following their Super Bowl LVIII victory against the San Francisco 49ers.
The Hunt family is always a staple of Kansas City sports, and Ava got to relax with a very special guest during the 2023-2024 season: Taylor Swift.
