Matt Hardeman was the first boot of Big Brother 26but his competition with Angela Murray he spent his time in a house he will never forget.
After Matt, 25, told then-Head of Household Angela, 50, that she wouldn't hesitate to target him if she nominated him for eviction, Angela called him in front of half of the house, saying he threatened her with “violence”. . In her emotional speech, Angela repeatedly called Matt “Crazy Eyes.”
One day after his elimination on Thursday, July 25, from the CBS reality series, Matt was told exclusively Us Weekly what he thinks about the “Crazy Eyes” label.
“At the end of the day, I don't think we should comment on people of a certain race,” said Matt, whose mother is from the Philippines. “My eyes are just brown. They are not the same in my opinion. … I have never had a subject to discuss my eyes until now.”
Matt was blinded by the noise, he told Us that when Angela started shouting words, she thought something good was about to happen.
“Angela is coming [downstairs] clapping, … and we all know [being] HOH really wore him [and] he was struggling. We all hoped that he would have a better day as a person. So, he comes clapping down the stairs, and I start clapping,” Matt recalled. “I say, 'Come on, let's have a good day.' And then he said, 'Matt', and I thought he was going to say, 'Can you get up and dance for us all? Because today is going to be a good day.' … I went from thinking I was going to be called down to, 'You're dumb and ugly.'”
While Matt may not agree with Angela's decision to confront him, he was impressed with the performance.
“I'd say, 'Do you have a writer? Do you look like a rapper outside of this house?' Because his disses were creative, Like, they had music,” he said. “Even after that, I kept laughing to myself, like, 'Dude, somebody's grandma just told me to hold my words up in the back because they're obscene.'” (Angela's direct words, “Your words are s—t, so. you should put them back in your ass.” .”)
Matt wasn't one of Angela's first nominees – she put it Kimo Apaka, Lisa Weintraub again Kenny Kelley on stage during the nomination ceremony – but chose him as his nominee after Lisa, 33, won a veto contest.
When Matt made a final plea to his houseguests before Thursday's live eviction vote, he noted that he forgives Angela, which she doesn't seem to like. However, Matt hopes they can resolve their differences in the real world.
“I would like to find good grace between the two of us outside,” she said. “I will never insult him personally. So, I hope that I will get that chance to make things right with him.”
In addition to his feud with Angela, Matt will be remembered for his connection Mackenzie Manbeckthey don't say Us it would have “totally” turned into a show if he stayed in the house for a long time.
“I think Mackensy and I, on paper, are like peas and carrots,” she said. “We even found out that we were almost at the concert for the same days before we got into this together [Big Brother casting] process and knowledge. Both our lives go hand in hand, our values and what we want. … I don't think our story is over.”
