Anaheim, California turned to the Grid on Friday night as the stars of 2025 Tron Ares not only did the filming of the first video of the series begin, but also a major news episode. Since 2010 Legacy of the Tronwhich featured Daft Punk’s all-time hit, everyone was curious to know who was going to do the music for him. Ares. Daft Punk, after all, broke up in 2021. However, after the killer trailer in the room only, a red laser is cut off in the back of the field, recording a very familiar sign. Tron Ares will feature music by Nine Inch Nails. Here’s the reveal.

That, of course, happened after the amazing trailer. It begins with a top-down shot of Evan Peters’ character, Julian Dillinger, explaining that even though for most of human history we’ve been looking at life in space, we’ve been looking in the wrong direction all this time. It’s not there, he said. It’s in here. He is referring, of course, to the Grid, the inner world that Kevin Flynn first discovered Tron. And in this, there is an intelligent life that he wants to bring out.
He is not alone. A woman named Eve Kim (Greta Lee) is riding a snowmobile across a large mountain. There, he found an orange tree outside the area. Elsewhere, a man in a red suit (Ares, played by Jared Leto) appears in our world and says he’s looking for something he doesn’t understand: eternity. The streets are littered with trash and debris. Rain falls on his black gloved hand as we see him looking at the insect on his finger.
A helicopter hovers near the dock. Eve hangs upside down from Ares. “What are you?” he asks. Cut to a mountain scene as two red lightcycles dive into the night. Then we see the familiar looking Grid but in red. A quick photo of Gillian Anderson. Eve in a red suit falling through the air, only for a hand to reach out to catch her. Eve and Ares speed down the river in a Lightboat.
Then all kinds of lightcycle action on the streets of our world. Vertical shot of two red lightcycles moving around like a 1980s video game. When they get close, they speed down the streets, cut cars in half, and cause serious accidents. Finally we see Ares walking on a strange Grid with a man with white hair and a purple robe, with a strange sign on the front, saying “Greeting Program.” It’s Kevin Flynn, or a version of him.
Tron Areswith music by Nine Inch Nails, will be released on October 10, 2025.
