Simone Biles sported a Green Bay Packers jacket to watch her husband, an NFL safety, Jonathan Owens play the Chicago Bears in a preseason game.
Fresh off the 2024 Paris Olympics, the 27-year-old Biles arrived at Chicago’s Soldier Field on Saturday, August 17, to support Owens, 29, and the Bears as they took on the Cincinnati Bengals.
Biles shared a photo on her Instagram Story of her game-day outfit, which included an oversized jacket featuring black-and-white images of Owens in his No. 34 jersey, which he wore while playing for the Green Bay Packers. Owens played for the Packers through 2023 before signing a two-year contract with the Bears, their old NFL rivals, in March 2024.
The Olympian completed her outfit with a black body suit which she paired with a black Prada bucket hat and black and white Nike sneakers. In Boomerang’s shared Instagram Story, Biles wore a black ankle boot on her left foot due to a calf injury she sustained at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Biles tweaked her calf during floor exercise on July 28 before qualifying gymnasts when she tried to get her triple. Laurie HernandezOlympic commentator and Team USA alum, noted that Biles “came in a weird way” during practice. Biles, on the other hand, performed her floor routine with a carved calf and took home a silver medal for the Women’s Floor – Artistic Gymnastics. (Biles won a total of four medals at the Paris Games: one silver and three golds.)
“It’s a way to protect ourselves, to make sure, because we still have it [a] visit after this to heal and all those things. So, just a little bit of pain,” Biles told NBC’s Mike Tirico on August 5. He also added that his calf is “beautiful.”
“I feel like elite athletes are very tough, so, for pain or pleasure, we’re ready for anything,” Biles told Tirico, 57, as they watched footage of the fall. “Pretty much, what you see here is, I was trying to go around a lot to get a good measure, and I did that and I almost got knocked out. [coach Laurent Landi] outside. But it was good.”
Owens blasted his “heroic” wife at a Chicago Bears press conference on Aug. 6 in Chicago. Before training camp, Owens was in Paris to support Biles as she competed for Team USA.
“Obviously, the first day he hurt his calf and his ability to persevere through that and go out there and dominate is amazing to watch,” he said. “His tenacity, and when he decided to come back, he accomplished everything he set out to do. Just being able to witness every day, the training you get.”
