An autopsy revealed that Perry died from “the side effects of ketamine” on October 28, 2023. Along with Iwamasa, Jasveen Sangha (also known as the “Queen of Ketamine”), Mark Chavez, Salvador Plasencia and Erik Fleming are all guilty.

Iwamasa, Perry’s assistant, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine causing death.

On the day of Perry’s death, Iwamasa gave the actor three doses of ketamine, starting with the first dose around 8:30 that morning and the second four hours later. He said he administered a third dose 40 minutes later before preparing a hot tub for Perry and leaving the actor to run errands. The nurse found Perry unresponsive in the hot tub when she returned home.

Although those are the three injections that prosecutors say led to Perry’s death, Iwamasa said he used 27 in total in the last five days of Perry’s life. Iwamasa has no medical training and was following instructions from Plasencia.

Friends and family are “blindsided” and “saddened” by Iwamasa’s arrest, Us Weekly reported on Thursday August 15.

“Matthew kept secrets,” said a source close to Matthew Us Weekly. “I wouldn’t be shocked if only Kenny knew how bad it really is.”

“Ketamine was a very popular street drug in the 1980s. There is an artificial version of it now,” he wrote in his book, due out in 2022.

Perry explained that he would “seclude himself” and use prescribed ketamine therapy “to relieve pain and help with depression.”

The actor added: “Has my name written all over the place – they might have called it ‘Matty.’ It was something different, and anything different is good.”
