Meghan Markle Talks About Son Archie on Colombia Trip

The second day of Meghan Markle again Prince HarryColombia’s trip to Colombia brought them back to the classroom, where the two improved their Spanish skills.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited with preschoolers at Colegio La Giralda in Santa Fe, a suburb of the country’s capital Bogota.

“He’s the same age as my son Archie!” Meghan, 43, said in Spanish to one of the students.

Archie turned 5 in May, and Meghan and Harry share daughter Lilibet, 3.

“He spoke fluent Spanish with one young woman,” said Baba, the founder of Homeboy Industries Greg Boyle, who was present at the school, according to People. “He just got into Spanish, which was a revelation – and it was great.”

Not to be outdone, Harry, 39, flexed his Spanish chops by asking children their names and ages in their native language.

Kindergarteners showed off Meghan and Harry, too, singing a song and giving them gifts and handwritten books.

During their visit, Meghan and Harry also visited the school, took part in an art class and helped plant trees on the school grounds. Colegio La Giralda prioritizes outdoor classrooms and a school garden was established in 2020 to help educate students about nature and farmers, who are important in providing Columbia’s food.

After their visit to the school, Meghan and Harry had a private lunch with the vice president Francia Marquezwhere they learned more about the First World Ministerial Conference to End Violence Against Children, which Bogota will host in November.

Marquez admitted at a press conference in May on Thursday that he got the idea to invite the couple after watching their documentary on Netflix. Harry and Meghan.

“How did I meet Meghan and Harry? I first met them in the media, and I especially watched a Netflix series about their life and story, which deeply touched me,” he said.

Speaking specifically about Meghan, he added, “It inspired me to say, ‘This is a woman who deserves to visit our country and share her story.’

After meeting Marquez, they will attend a meeting with members of the Colombia Invictus Games to complete their day’s program. During the last games in 2023, Colombia became the first South American country to participate. The next interpretation of the games will take place in 2025.

Later in their four-day trip, Meghan and Harry’s Colombian tour will take them to Cartagena and Cali, where they will continue to highlight their Archewell Foundation.
