The Nightmare Before Christmas Henry Selick Hides Jack Skellington In All His Movies

Henry Selick, director of the 1993 cult classic The Nightmare Before Christmasrevealed that he hid Jack Skellington in all his films.

“If you look carefully, you can find that there is a picture of Jack in every other film I have done. “But I can’t legally say that’s true, but it could be true,” Selick said interview with GamesRadar+.

The Nightmare Before Christmas was Selick’s first director. He continued to do it James and the Big Peach (1996)A monkey (2001), Coraline (2009), again Wendell & Wild (2022). Many of his films share similar foreign stories and realities. It makes sense that there will be cross references or Easter eggs in it.

He pointed that out Coraline fans who carefully watch the morning scene may see eggs being cracked by another Mother similar to the famous Halloween King. In James and the Big Peachthe captain of the Skeleton Pirates looks like Jack—and is also called “Skellington.” In Wendell & Wildappears at the end of the credits.

Jack Skellington has made so-called cameos in other films, including the 2010s Alice entered Wonderland-directed by The Nightmare Before Christmas producer Tim Burton—in the Mad Hatter’s tie, and in 2003 Finding Nemohidden in the foam in Gil’s fish tank. Sally and Jack from Disney Pixar’s Ralph Breaks Student Dutyet. Selick has also included other Easter eggs in his movies, including Other Father wearing “Monkeybone” slippers Coraline. The director himself appears in a cameo in the bill dollar in Coraline.

Coraline marks its 15th anniversary this year, and is currently enjoying limited reissues (Coraline and achieved great success with a reissue last summer). As for any possibility of a sequel to his memorable films, which Disney is known for making, Selick told GamesRadar+ that it has been discussed, but he’s not interested.

“It was discussed forever on different occasions in the past. I was told ‘Oh, we want to do another sequel, but it has to be CGI’ and I said ‘No, no,’” Selick explained.. “But you don’t want to ruin something by killing the golden goose. Making a sequel or a prequel would destroy that. I mean, during our time Jaws six, shark movies, they will really beat that shark to death.”
