Ryan Reynolds’ Big Effort to Produce the Movie ‘Eight Perfect Murders’

INTERMEDIATE: New Regency and Maximum Effort collaborate on a feature adaptation of the New York Times bestselling novel Eight Perfect Killers, which recently acquired the rights to Peter Swanson’s novel and attached Harry Bradbeer to direct. This novel was published by William Morrow, publisher of HarperCollins.

The news follows the record-breaking box office success of Maximum Efforts with Deadpool vs. Wolverine and the upcoming fourth season of the Emmy-winning docuseries, Welcome to Wrexham. New Regency’s recent and upcoming film and television slate includes the critically acclaimed, CyclistsSteve McQueen’s blitz, again Mr & Mrs Smith sixteen Emmy nominations.
The novel follows a bookstore owner who finds himself at the center of an FBI investigation when a super-smart killer starts using his list of super-smart fictional murders as inspiration. Swanson is the Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author of eleven novels, incl A Kind Worth KillingNew England Society Book Award winner, and CWA finalist Ian Fleming Steel Dagger, All His FearsNPR’s annual book.
His books have been translated into more than 30 languages, and his stories, poems and features have appeared in the Atlantic Monthly, The Guardian and Asimov’s Science Fiction. Swanson’s forthcoming novel, Kill Your Loved Oneswill be released in 2025.
Bradbeer serves as director and EP for both seasons Fleabag earned him numerous Emmy, BAFTA, PGA, Golden Globe and Critics Choice awards. Bradbeer also received a BAFTA Best Director nomination for the pilot Killing Eve and directed the pilot for the Golden Globe-winning series Ramy of A24/Hulu.
More recently, Bradbeer has directed feature films Enola Holmes again Enola Holmes 2 for Netflix and Legendary. He is currently in production on a live action series Spider-Man Noir for Amazon starring Nicholas Cage. Harry will play the EP and direct the first two episodes. Lord & Miller and Amy Pascal are producing with Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot serving as co-showrunners and executive producers.
