Don’t worry at all, we’ve got you covered.
1 Mortal Kombat
Tell me you can’t hear the music in your head right now
While the remake released during the COVID-19 crisis wasn’t bad in itself, if we’re going to talk about the best movie adaptation of the most popular video game ever, I have to go with the original.
Mortal Kombat (1995)
- Director
- Paul WS Anderson
- It’s playing
- Christopher Lambert, Bridgette Wilson-Sampras
- Enema
- 1995
Released back in 1995, the special effects of this flick are classic, but it’s still fun to see beloved characters like Johnny Cage, Kitana, Sonya Blade, Reptile, Raden, Sub-Zero and others on screen fighting in that supernatural competition. determines the fate of the world. It’s important to note that while this is a great adaptation, the movies that followed it weren’t readily available unless you had to watch the entire series once it started.

2 Sonic the Hedgehog
You must go quickly
The thing about the Sonic the Hedgehog movie is that it’s not a one-size-fits-all video game. Of course, that would be a boring, boring movie so, there had to be an original story included with the background of the characters and ideas that fans of the video game series would recognize.

- Jeff Fowler

- Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Jim Carrey

To that end, the film does exactly what it set out to do. This is the kind of adaptation that makes the list because it’s brilliantly watched and while it strays far from where the games went, it’s clear that it respects its source material instead of ignoring it too much (looking at the Resident Evil movies). It helps that the movie finds some really good and likable actors and lets them do their thing, including Jim Carrey as the iconic villain Dr. Robotnik. An added bonus here is that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a fun little follow-up that helped establish a legitimate franchise.

3 Silent Hill
When you hear a siren, run
The original Silent Hill movie is a lot better than it gets credit for and part of that is because it wasn’t popular when it was first released. The film could have benefited from many other attempts at movie adaptations falling flat. People are starting to see how good this one is, mostly because even though the story isn’t specific to any of its gameplay, it does a great job of capturing the vibe of a mining town turned terror-filled killing field.

Nurses and Pyramid Head are very faithful to the games and honestly, the latter really needs to get more love as one of the most villainous characters in the video game and horror movie story, because he is such a force whenever he hits the screen. . The film also benefits from the fact that while the ending is generally positive, it is not a traditional “happy” ending. It’s really surprising that every movie that came after the original Silent Hill was so bad because it feels like this could have been a fun movie series.

4 Detective Pikachu
5 The world of real movies
Although Detective Pikachu will not be fighting for Oscars, what makes this movie so great is that it offers a high value in the world of Pokemon that does not disappoint people who love the game. There’s something magical about watching a real-life person try to go out and trap their friend. Similarly, seeing a city where no one bats an eye at people walking on the street followed by a giant duck, or a dog walking on two legs is just fun.

There’s also a decent mystery to be revealed and while the payoff isn’t as good as one might hope, there’s a lot in Detective Pikachu that’s just plain fun. The good thing about a movie based on the Pokemon universe is that when the characters go overboard, it seems to match what we’ve seen in the games. This is another great movie despite the fact that it doesn’t copy its source material so much as pay homage.

6 Rampage
Just happy destruction
This is a movie that might make me think deeply, because in terms of dialogue and acting, this is not a good movie. However, I do give the filmmakers a few points for finding a way to release a movie that focuses on giant animals destroying buildings over and over again.

Honestly, one of my favorite scenes of any “disaster” movie is when Lizzie first appears in Chicago and capsizes a cruise ship by swimming under it. When they come to the oshores it’s fun again. And the fight between Georgie, Lizzie and Ralph is some fun CGI action. As long as you go in knowing that the field is intended and looks good with the use of the original source in relation to the vibes, you will enjoy Rampage.
