Donald Trump’s rally in Montana on Friday sparked a strong reaction on social media after Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’ – her Oscar-winning song from Titanic – was blasted over the speakers just before the presidential hopeful took the stage.

The Daily Mail reports that the irony of the sinking ship that was played at the event was not lost on the viewers, most of whom entered the social media, one even asked if the Trump team has a mole on the side of Kamala Harris, with the intention of overturning Trump’s choice of song.

This raises the question of whether this campaign has rights, it is managed by 20 peopleth Century Fox, public use of song. Deadline reached out to Dion’s representatives for comment.

This is not the first time the 1997 hit has been used by Trump’s supporters. The song was played at a Trump rally on November 1, 2020 during the final campaign for the presidency, leading The View host Whoopi Goldberg to quip the next day, “The irony is great.” Added co-host Sara Haines, “That doesn’t go down well with anyone.”

The song was also played at Trump’s June 2021 rally in North Carolina and was on the playlist for MAGA’s January 6, 2021 Washington DC rally with Trump, which preceded the storming of the Capitol.

The song’s inclusion wasn’t the only controversial moment. Trump’s speech included a misunderstanding of the Algerian boxer, Imane Khelif, who yesterday won a gold medal at the Paris Olympics and mocked Democratic Senator John Tester.

This follows a complaint by French singer Woodkid that Trump used his song in a campaign video, without seeking permission.

Woodkid wrote about X on Wednesday: “Run Boy Run is an LGBT+ song written by me, a proud LGBT+ artist. It’s also weird, I didn’t even give permission to use my music for that [Donald Trump] movie.” Woodkid complained when the two-minute video was first released in December, but it was re-released this week.
