“It was lightning in a bottle,” Boreanaz, 55, said TV Insider on the long-running series in a new interview published on Thursday, August 8, before praising his costar and the bond they formed when they were on set. “I hold you close and I love you, and it would be nice to remember that again.”

Boreanaz – who played the role of Agent Seeley Booth against Dr. Deschanel’s Temperance “Bones” Brennan – went on to tell the newspaper that she knows how much fans still love the show, making the revival argument even stronger.

“The behavior we put in these actors and the thing we took out was to have fun with them, and I can’t tell you how much love and admiration we get from the fans for these two actors. And seeing them come back would be great,” he said, noting that a reboot would be “easy to do because it’s so fun.”

He added, “It’s not like, really, what are you going to do about it? It’s just a lot of heart.”

Boreanaz also touched on the impact Bones it had a way of writing criminal proceedings. Although the nature of the show was graphic, the character development, and the inclusion of very dark humor in the dialogue and plot, breathed new life into what could have been a typical crime drama.

“When the show first started, the proceedings were story-driven, and we broke that mold and took pride in that, that we could entertain these characters over dead bodies. [Brennan] he was just saying words,” he said. “And I’m just like, catch the killer and talk about last night’s blender not working morning or night and how much you don’t like eggs and how much I do. [something].”

While talking to The Hollywood Reporter in 2019, Deschanel, 47, had similar feelings about himself and Boreanaz’s characters.

“I remember loving the dialogue between the two characters, the quick witty repartee, and I loved that relationship,” he told the outlet. “I loved that it was a strong female character. If you sign up to do a TV show, you have to think long term, especially at the beginning when you’re piloting the plane, what kind of message you’re sending to people.”

She added, “Young people are watching it, so you have to think about the young girls watching the show and seeing role models and scientists who are really smart and successful in their careers, and successful.”
