Nick Cannon he knows that his ex-wife, Mariah Careyhe is the one running away.
“All of us,” Cannon, 43, joked to E! News on Tuesday, August 6, refers to Carey’s 2005 song of the same name. The actor then said he would “totally get back together” with Carey, 55, if given the chance. “[I’d] I would be a fool if I didn’t,” he said.
When asked what’s stopping him and Carey from rekindling their romance, Cannon laughed, “He doesn’t want me.” His “We Playin’ Spades” producer, Courtney Beehe then poked fun at Cannon’s extended family.
“Yeah, you’re gone and you have 10 kids,” she said.
Cannon, who has adopted 12 children with six different women including Carey, was not offended by the joke.
“The whole baseball team,” he admitted. Like, ‘No, you can’t come home.’
Cannon became a father for the first time when he married Carey. The former tied the knot in 2008, welcomed twins Monroe and Moroccan in 2011 and divorced in 2016.
In addition to her twins with 13-year-old Carey, Cannon shares sons Golden, 7, and Rise, 22 months, and daughter Powerful, 3, and Brittany Belltwin sons Zion and Zillion, 3, and daughter Enhle, 20 months, with Abby De La Rosason Zen, who died aged 5 months in 2021 after suffering from a brain tumour, and daughter Halo, aged 19 months, Alyssa Scottson Legendary, 2, with Bre Tiesi and daughter Oniksi, 22 months, with This is Nisha Cole.
Cannon said on Tuesday that the mothers of his children get along “amazingly” even though he “didn’t expect them”.
“Everybody lives their own life, before me and after me,” he explained. “I think that’s how you keep your peace as well [keep] everyone is moving. Like everyone else [is] worry about themselves and not about what the other person is [doing]. As long as the kids are happy and have a strong understanding, I think that’s what makes sense. You have to operate on that.”
Cannon previously said that Carey has no problem with his ever-growing family.
“He’s like, ‘As long as you don’t bring one of those bull-ts to the Manor of Carey,'” he said during a May 2023 appearance on the “Jason Lee Show” podcast. “He lives in his own world, nothing can interfere with that. When we talk every day, he just checks my mood.”
Cannon added that the “Always Be My Baby” singer is “high frequency” and always “inspiring” him.
“He always asks me, ‘Are you okay? Are you ready? How are you? You who are in charge of everything?’” he said. “He’s like, ‘Yeah, let’s make sure we’re on the same page every day.’
Being more in tune with her first parent, Cannon is empathetic about the fact that she and Carey’s children are growing up.
“We’ll be done soon,” he told E! News on Tuesday. “We have a new one now. I’m about to cry. It happened very quickly.”
Carey, for her part, talked about herself and Cannon’s children at the same event earlier this month.
“I love them so much. They are really good kids,” he said. “I don’t think they are as bad or as bad as me. They’re really good kids, and they’re very smart and funny.”
