A man was found guilty by a Los Angeles jury on Wednesday of posting his 17-year-old son killing rapper PnB Rock.
Freddie Trone, 42, was found guilty of multiple counts, including murder, two counts of robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery, after the Philadelphia hip-hop star was shot in September 2022.
The rapper was eating at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles restaurant in Los Angeles with his girlfriend, who is the mother of his four-year-old child, when the teenager – wearing a snow mask – entered the restaurant, demanding the singer’s jewelry again. opened fire.
The police said the teenager took things from the deceased person and fled in a waiting car, which Trone is accused of driving, according to the media.
PnB suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at a local hospital less than an hour later.
Prosecutors during the trial argued that the girl was acting on her father’s orders while Trone’s legal team argued that she was an employee behind the crimes.
The teenager, 19 years old, was also arrested on charges of murder and robbery in the case but, according to a local media report, he has not yet been found competent to stand trial.
A third man, Tremont Jones, was charged in this case and found guilty of two counts of robbery and one count of conspiracy to commit robbery.
Both Jones and Trone are scheduled to be sentenced on August 27.
During Trone’s trial, Deputy District Attorney Timothy Richardson told jurors that Trone led his son in a “systematic act” to steal expensive jewelry, saying the target was “half a million dollars worth of jewelry,” according to Fox 11 in Los Angeles.
Prosecutors said Jones had seen the rapper at a restaurant and passed on information to Trone about the singer’s jewelry, the newspaper reported.
Trone’s defense team argued that she was not there and did not tell her son or anyone to do anything. His attorney said that prosecutors were targeting the wrong person and that race played a role in his conviction, Fox 11 reported.
“Justice has been served for Mr. Allen and his family who have faced the unimaginable pain of losing a loved one to senseless violence,” District Attorney Gascón said Wednesday after the conviction.
“Let this serve as a clear message to anyone who threatens the safety and well-being of our community: our office will relentlessly pursue cases and work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice.”
The rapper’s girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, said PnB saved his life in this incidentwrote on Instagram after the attack: “I shouldn’t be here [because] home. I’m here”.
He described the trauma after being shot, not being able to ride in an ambulance with him and being forced to leave the restaurant as the police investigated.
“I feel like nothing,” he wrote after the attack. “My world is dark now. My heart aches for the children.”
PnB, whose real name is Rakim Hasheem Allen, rose to fame with the release of his 2016 single Selfish and has collaborated with artists including Ed Sheeran.

Rapper Offset posted a tweet asking fans to pray for PnB’s two children, whom Nicki Minaj called “a pleasure to work with”.
PnB Rock was born in Philadelphia in 1991, and went on to record two studio albums, Catch These Vibes and Trapstar Turnt PopStar.
He released his last single, Luv Me Again, two days before the shooting.
