“He and I met as two young deputies,” Hall wrote. “Only a few years older than me, already full of confidence and self-esteem, I knew this was the guy I wanted to be my friend for the rest of my life. He introduced me to a group of guys that I would eventually form a lifelong relationship with. Together we all experienced more life and experiences in 23 years than many could imagine in a lifetime.”
Hall testified that he and his friends had taken turns being by Galvest’s bedside “for the past few weeks,” while another friend never left the man’s side. Hall reflected on how Galvez was able, at times, to have the strength to keep his head up and “share a laugh” with the group.
“All the boys came from all over to be there for their last gasp,” Hall wrote. “We are not going anywhere. Your last words to me, “I love you Josh, it’s going to be okay.” I love you Gonzalo Galvez.”
