In a video posted on X, RFK Jr admitted to dumping a dead baby bear in New York’s Central Park in 2014.

Robert F Kennedy Jr recounted how he dumped a dead bear in New York’s Central Park in 2014.

This clip, posted on X’s account on Sunday, shows the independent presidential candidate explaining to American actress Roseanne Barr about an incident that shocked New Yorkers 10 years ago.

Mr. Kennedy said a woman killed a bear with her car while driving outside the city, and put it in her van with the intention of harvesting its meat.

He spoke about the story when the New Yorker magazine published a story about the incident on Monday.

In accordance with the New YorkerMr Kennedy was “tickled” by the discovery of the bear while he was out on a picnic in the rural Hudson River Valley in upstate New York.

The photo included in the headline shows Mr Kennedy holding his hand inside the mouth of the dead bear after loading it into the back of his car.

Citing an unnamed source, the magazine reported that Mr Kennedy “thought it would be funny to make it look like a flailing cyclist” and mounted the animal.

This account is the same as that given to Mr Kennedy on Sunday.

In his video, Mr Kennedy tells Barr he was driving for a ride near Goshen, New York in 2014 when the bear was killed.

“I was going to cut open the bear – and it was in great shape – and I was going to put the meat in my fridge,” he says. “And you can do that in New York state: Get a bear tag for a roadkill bear.”

New York State allows people to pick up bears that are killed on the streets, but authorities must be notified. Mr Kennedy does not appear to have done so.

Instead, he says he continued with his falconry event, which went late into the evening, and then went to dinner at the Peter Luger Steakhouse in New York City, about 121 miles south of Goshen.

“By the end of dinner, it was getting late and I realized I wasn’t going to be able to go home,” Mr Kennedy said. “I had to go to the airport, and the bear was in my car, and I didn’t want to leave the bear in my car because that would be bad.”

He says it was then that it dawned on him that there had been a series of bicycle accidents in New York and that he had an old bicycle in his car.

He says he had an idea to do a bicycle accident with a bear in Central Park. Many of the drunken people he was traveling with thought it was a good idea, adding that he had not been drinking.

“We thought it would be funny to whoever got it,” he said.

“The next day… it was on every television station. It was the front page of every paper and I turned on the TV and there was a mile of yellow tape and 20 police cars, there were helicopters, and I was going. like, ‘Oh my God what have I done? ?’

He then notes that a New Yorker reporter called him and asked if he was involved, which seems to be what prompted him to release the video.

The bear’s body was found by a woman who was walking her dog, the New York Times said in its book 2014 story. The body was placed under the trees along with an unused bicycle..

New York’s Department of Environmental Conservation told the BBC on Monday it had determined the bear died as a result of a high-speed collision. It added that cases cannot be opened for incidents that are more than a year old.

The Times story was written by Tatiana Schlossberg, granddaughter of former US President John F Kennedy.

This admission by Mr. Kennedy comes as his campaign for the presidency appears to be struggling. His support has dropped to single digits in the polls since Kamala Harris entered the Democratic race.

His fundraising has been disrupted, forcing him to delay his campaign in recent weeks. He is adamant that he has no intention of ending his bid for the presidency.
