It’s perfect: Newly launched DreamFlare AI has hired Cameron Purcell as Vice President of Development and Kelly Kanavas as Creative Executive.

Purcell has held roles at Universal Pictures, Annapurna, and MGM, focusing on content strategy and distribution. Most recently he was head of film and TV at Korean video game publisher Krafton, and is the founder of creative label The Story Entertainment.

Kelly Kanavas joins Netflix, where she helped develop animated film content, and has also worked at Walt Disney Animation Studios, Paramount Animation, and CAA.

DreamFlare specializes in Gen-AI entertainment and interactive AI content across a variety of genres. The company launched this summer with $1.65M in early seed funding from companies including FoundersX Ventures. The founders say the company has 20 hours of content so far and is “working with dozens of filmmakers who are creating in the space”.

According to its release, the company, founded by former Google employee Josh Liss and filmmaker Rob Bralver, is considered a type of studio where creators collaborate with storytellers to create video using third-party AI tools such as Runway, Midjourney, ElevenLabs, and others. The videos will then be distributed through a subscription-based online service. Creators will earn money by sharing revenue from subscriptions and advertising.

DreamFlare, the release said, will offer two types of animated content on the platform: Flips, which are comic book-style stories with AI-generated short clips that users can scroll through, and Spins, which are interactive choose-your-own-travel short films where viewers they can change certain outcomes of the story.

Purcell said: “DreamFlare stands at the intersection of information and creativity, providing a space where creators can use AI to push boundaries. The company was purposely built to enrich the entire entertainment ecosystem, expand creative opportunities to collaborate with industry talent and discover all new opportunities for creators and audiences alike. Our mission is to support and nurture the human side of storytelling, making every collaboration a testament to innovation and artistic integrity.”

Meanwhile, Kanavas added: “Many creators have not given up their work in Hollywood. With DreamFlare, these talented individuals can bring their stories to life for audiences in a new way – while developing expertise in key emerging technologies. New tools offer the opportunity to tell stories in truly new ways, and we’re excited to see what storytellers from around the world dream up.”
