Martin Bakole (21-1, 16 KOs) destroyed America’s top heavyweight, knocking out Jared Anderson (17-1, 15 KOs) in the fifth round in front of a stunned crowd on Saturday night at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles.
A Foreman-Esque Show of Power
Anderson was completely outclassed by Bakole, who looked George Foreman-esque. Bakole hurt Anderson and put him down three times in the contest before the referee, Jerry Cantu, stopped the fight at 2:07 of the fifth round.
After the fight was over, Anderson, bleeding from the mouth, staggered back to his corner, apparently unaware of what was happening. Bakole had defeated Anderson in a classic exhibition of power hitting.
The strange thing about this fight is that Anderson was dominant in the first round, beating Bakole, 31, who had head shots and punches that reached the midsection.

Where things fell apart for Anderson was when he got closer, Bakole received the above letter which broke his head and injured him. The shot sent Anderson backwards into the ropes.
Bakole’s Endless Attack
Bakole then calmly followed up after his battered deer, landing three punches to the head that sent him crashing to the canvas. Luckily for Anderson, the round ended before Bakole could finish the job.
Anderson fought well in the second and third rounds but was beaten hard by Bakole at times and looked shaky. Bakole missed some big punches in those rounds that would have knocked Anderson out had they connected.
In the fourth, Bakole passed Anderson and headbutted him at the end of the round. At the end of the round, Anderson looked injured, blood was coming out of his mouth, it was clear that he would not go through to the next round.
Bakole finished the job like a surgeon in the fifth, dropping Anderson with some good power punches to the head for the stoppage.
