Gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik Wins Bronze at 2024 Paris Olympics

Stephen Nedoroscik came third in the men’s pommel horse final at the 2024 Paris Olympics, earning a bronze medal.

“I said, at that point, I said, ‘Okay, let’s go back. Let’s go out there and do our thing,’” he recalled. “I have [coach] Sam Mikulak just like, like the greatest coach ever. You are up there, helping me control my emotions. You know exactly what to say to me. So when we got that bucket of chalk, she just sat me down and said, ‘You’re ready for this.’ I went up there, I did my routine, and during that descent, I was just smiling.”

Nedoroscik went viral after a photo of himself relaxing as he waited for his turn to become a meme.

“I’m obsessed with this guy on the US men’s gymnastics team who looks like he’s getting a phd in anthropology and his only job is pommel horse,” one fan tweeted about X on Monday.

Viewers also appreciated how Nedoroscik removed his glasses from his show, a move that earned comparisons to Clark Kent.

As Nedoroscik’s popularity grew, his girlfriend, Tess McCrackenshared his reaction to the new attention, he told E! News on Thursday, August 1, that he was “surprised” by the love he received.

“I was trying to show him things, like, ‘You’re a meme, you’re viral. Look at all these things,’” he continued. “And he loved them. He laughed at them. And then, they started. We didn’t know what it would turn into.”
