Tesla sued over fatal Autopilot crash

is still facing further legal action over Autopilot after the parents of a motorcyclist who died in a crash involving a Model 3 sued the company. The plaintiffs, who are also suing the Tesla driver, say the car’s driver assistant technology and other safety measures are “flawed and inadequate.”
The plaintiffs opposed the complaint received by that the Autopilot sensors and cameras “must identify the danger caused by” the motorcycle. Autopilot was engaged when a Model 3 rear-ended Landon Embry’s motorcycle at 75-80 miles per hour in Utah in 2022. Embry died at the scene.
His parents also said the driver of the Model 3 was fatigued and “a reasonably prudent driver, or an adequate auto braking system, could have slowed down or stopped without colliding with the motorcycle.” Tesla’s public relations department could not be reached for comment.
This is the latest in a long line of legal and regulatory issues Tesla has faced over its Autopilot and Full Self-Driving features. Just this week, Washington state investigators said the Tesla Model S involved in a fatal crash with a motorcycle in April was fully self-driving at the time.
