Olympic medalist MyKayla Skinner he has been quiet since he used to play with him before Simone Biles it looks like he threw her some shade while celebrating Team USA’s success at the 2024 Paris Olympics, but her husband, Jonas Harmershared a glimpse of what he was doing during the drama.
Harmer, 27, took to her Instagram Story on Tuesday, July 30, to share videos of Skinner, also 27, at what appears to be a children’s gym.
“New friends >,” the American Ninja Warrior alum posted a clip of his wife walking arm in arm with three little girls around camp. In other clips, Skinner was seen eating ice cream, chatting with campers and hugging several girls at the gym.
“Real life >,” Harmer captioned a video of Skinner in the gym.
The post comes hours after Biles, 27, raised eyebrows with an Instagram post that appeared to be a nod to Skinner.
“Lack of talent, laziness, olympic champions,” Biles captioned a photo of herself holding up an American flag with her teammates. Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey again Hezly Rivera after taking home the gold medal in the women’s gymnastics team final on Tuesday.
Fans were quick to notice similarities between Biles’ caption and the words Skinner said in the YouTube video since it was removed late last month.
“Without Simone, I feel like the skill and depth isn’t what it used to be. I mean, obviously, most girls don’t work hard. “Girls don’t have the energy to work,” Skinner said at the time.
Skinner added that the US Center for SafeSport, an independent organization that responds to “sexual, physical and emotional” abuse at US Olympic and Paralympic competitions, makes it difficult for coaches to push their athletes to excellence.
“Coaches can’t get into the athletes, which is good in a way, but at the same time, to get where you need to go in gymnastics you have to be … aggressive, a little tougher,” said Skinner. .
Biles was one of many gymnasts who testified against them Larry Nassar, a former USA Gymnastics doctor whose repeated sexual abuse of athletes under the guise of medical treatment led to the creation of the US Center for Safesport. He appeared to respond to Skinner’s comments on Threads on July 3.
“Not everyone needs a microphone and a stage,” Biles wrote.
Skinner later apologized for his statements, saying they were “misinterpreted” and that he “didn’t mean it.” [talking] about the current team.”
Biles wasn’t the only one to call Skinner out on the sly this week. Former member of Team USA McKayla Maroney commented on Biles’ post on Tuesday on Instagram, writing, “It doesn’t get much better than this. He woke up and found fr. It feels like I need to apologize just to use my first name.”
Lee, 21, commented, “Put your finger down if Simone Biles just finished you.”
While Skinner has yet to respond to the backlash, it seems he has responded in his own way.
“When he blocked Simone,” Chiles, 23, wrote on his Instagram Story on Wednesday, July 31, alongside a profile picture of Skinner on the phone. Suddenly, “no posts available” on Skinner’s page, the telltale sign of being blocked. Biles and Chiles’s reflections are also seen on the phone’s screen in the photo.
