There are a lot of devices out there that nobody really cares about requirements, but have a specific purpose that can help improve the quality of human life a little. Twelve South’s AirFly Duo is one such product. It’s a dongle that lets you connect Bluetooth earbuds and headphones to in-flight entertainment systems. The device is , which is a low record. The AirFly Duo normally costs $45.
This is one of our favorite pieces. It plugs into any 3.5mm audio jack, in fact, so you can use it with the likes of exercise equipment, gaming systems or TVs. Musicians can use it to listen to sound from amplifiers. In addition, you can connect two sets of earbuds or headphones at the same time, so that two people can watch a movie on the same iPad while on the go.

Twelve South says the device uses aptX Low Latency Codecs to reduce audio lag. The AirFly Duo is said to have a battery life of over 22 hours, so it should last even the length of long-haul flights. But, if you need to, you can charge the device while it’s running.
Also, the AirFly isn’t a product that anyone really needs – you can buy a set of wired earbuds that will work just fine for a few bucks. But you will be able to use any Bluetooth earbuds or headphones you like with this device. Best of all, you’ll avoid the inconvenience of the next phone falling over (and possibly into) your in-flight meal.
