Colin Jost Jokes About Foot Injury To Host Paris Olympics From Tahiti

Colin Jost he's learning the hard way that surfing at the 2024 Paris Olympics is not for the faint of heart – and should be left to the professionals.

“This may ruin my WikiFeet score but I just arrived in Tahiti for the surfing Olympics and the ocean was happy to greet me #paris2024 #showfeet,” Jost wrote on social media three days ago.

I Saturday Night Live The star revealed at the time that almost all of her toes were bloody and cut off when she first explored the reefs of the French Polynesian island. Between personal injuries, Jost has been reporting live from surfing competitions.

“Olympic surfing is about to start here in Tahiti. I'm ready if necessary,” he said on Instagram on Saturday, July 27, as events continued. “The USA team has passed me by. We are willing to rebel and go to other countries.”

When you log in with NBC's Mike Tirico on Sunday, July 28, Jost gave viewers an insight into how his reporting gig was going, calling it a “country circus.”

He quipped, “I forgot for a moment that it was the Olympics in France. But today, I saw a guy riding a bike to a surf break in a striped shirt holding two baguettes. I said, 'Wow, the spirit of Paris is still alive here in Tahiti.'

Jost also revealed how he started cutting his feet during a surf session before games. “I did well until the first wave and then I ended up standing on the coral reef,” he said with a laugh. “It's like a coral reef safety specialist but without the coral shoes. So I lost a little bit.”

Before his trip to Tahiti, Jost's wife, Scarlett Johanssonhe joked about how and why he was approached to report as part of the Olympic Games.

“I understand, how did you get this gig?” Johansson, 39, was mocked when he appeared on the pitch Today show earlier this month. “Is this a job?”

He joked that when Jost's “dream came true” and he was asked to fly to Tahiti for two weeks he had no sympathy for the crazy hours he would be working.

“I'm like, 'I'm poor,'” Johansson laughed as she feigned tears. He's like, 'I'm poor, I'm going to fill up everywhere,' and I say, 'Are you?' I think if you can get a pina colada in the air while you're working, that's not a professional job.”

The actor admitted that Jost loves the game, so he is happy that he got the chance to go abroad.

“When they announced the Paris Olympics, he found out right away that they were doing a surfing competition in Tahiti, which is really cool,” added Johansson. “He likes to surf. We have a place in Montauk, he's always out surfing.”
