Funko offers Custom Deadpool and Wolverine Pops

If there are three things I love to collect toys, Comic-Con, and Marvel Studios. That's why I jumped at the chance to find the perfect opportunity to combine all three.

If you've been living under a rock, Deadpool and Wolverine opens this weekend, one of Marvel's biggest movies in years. And to celebrate that opening weekend in its own unique way, Funko allowed fans at San Diego Comic-Con to “Raise” themselves as one of two characters. It's a lot of work going on down at the con, and while it's busy, it's also incredibly fun.

Once you get to the front of the line, a special QR code directs you to the area where you log in to your Funko account and choose which character you want to be: Deadpool or Wolverine. From there, you choose body type, skin tone, hairstyle, and a few other features to make Pop as close to you as possible. Then you pick out some accessories, like the Comic-Con exclusive TVA TempPad, pay $50 each (the money Funko threw around to cover what happened) and you're good to go. A few hours later, an email appears, you go back to the dock, and voila. He is a Funko Pop of Deadpool or Wolverine.

While there were a few technical issues during my particular experience, mostly due to crazy WiFi difficulties, the Funko team was amazing, fixing the issues and making sure I got the Pop I wanted. Meanwhile, a peek behind the booth saw cartons and boxes of different pieces, almost like a Funko Pop graveyard, as an army of workers worked to put them together.

The result? It's very sweet.
