There was a hearing Justin Timberlake DWI charge on Friday, July 26.
Us Weekly can confirm that Timberlake, 43, was not in court today and did not appear as he is in Poland as part of his world tour. He is expected to appear on Friday, August 2, because he is charged with one count of DWI. Timberlake's lawyer Edward Burke Jr.he asserted during the trial that his client was “not drunk” when he was arrested on June 18.
After the trial, Burke Jr. issued a statement about the case, he said We, “The most important fact we need to know about this case is that Justin was not intoxicated and should not have been arrested for DWI. The police made several critical mistakes in this case. In court today, you heard the district attorney try to correct one of those mistakes. But that is one and there are many others. Sometimes the police make mistakes and this is one of those incidents.”
The statement continued, “Justin respects law enforcement and the very important work they do. He always cooperated with the police and treated them with the respect they deserved. He also respects the entire justice system including the District Attorney and the Judge who were in court today. But the truth is, he was not drunk and they made a mistake in arresting him because of that. We hope that this case will be withdrawn.”
The singer was arrested in the Hamptons on June 18. “On June 18, 2024, at 12:37 AM, Justin R. Timberlake, age 43, of Tennessee, was observed operating a 2025 BMW southbound on Madison Street, failing to stop at a posted stop sign appropriately and failing to maintain his lane of travel,” the Sag Harbor Police Department said in a statement at the time. “The stop was initiated by an officer of the Sag Harbor Village Police Department and upon investigation it was determined that Mr. Timberlake was driving his vehicle while intoxicated.”
The statement continued: “Mr. Timberlake was arrested, processed and held overnight for arraignment in the morning. Mr. Timberlake appeared in Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on June 18, 2024, at 9:30 AM where he was released on his own recognizance.”
Later that day, Timberlake was charged with DUI and released without bail.
“The case was a single case because he refused to take a breath test,” his lawyer, Ed Burkeyou have been told Us Weekly at that time. “Mr. Timberlake was also charged with two counts of running a stop sign and not yielding to the right of way.”
Burke then added that he “looks forward to defending Mr. Timberlake is strong in these allegations” and “he has more to say at the right time.”
According to court documents obtained by CNN in June, Timberlake told authorities he “had one martini and I followed my friends home.” However, it is alleged that his eyes were “reddish and glassy,” and “there was a strong odor of intoxicating liquor coming from his mouth.”
Another officer said in the report that Timberlake had “slurred speech,” was “immobile” and “performed poorly on all standard sobriety tests” and refused a breathalyzer test three times.
Just a few days after his arrest, Timberlake started his own career Forget the Tomorrow World Tour and it seems that he spoke for the first time about this incident. “It's been a tough week,” he told the audience at his Chicago concert. “I know it's hard to love you sometimes, but you continue to love me and I love you right back.”
In June, the source was told only Us that Timberlake's wife, Jessica Biel – with whom he shares sons Silas, 9, and Phineas, 4 – was “very upset” about his arrest.
“He was shocked to hear this news and he doesn't know anything as he is working,” said the insider. “She was very worried about him.”
Biel was seen supporting Timberlake at his New York City show later that month.
