Too Hot to Handle season 6 star Charlie Jeer at first it was full of everything Lucy Sayed – until it was time to lose his jaw, he decided to dump her in favor of a costar Katherine LaPrell.
“It's really hard to pinpoint one instance where I was like, 'Oh no, I want Kat, not Lucy.' I think there are many things that can be shown and not seen,” said Charlie, 21, who was told exclusively. Us Weekly on Thursday, July 25. “There are many times of rest that we have at the retreat when other people are away doing their own thing. And at those times, it was actually a vibe thing that I was getting from Kat. I was actually holding back [being] he's not very interested in spending a lot of time with Lucy, and that's definitely not against him.”
Charlie, Lucy, 28, and Katherine, 28, were all OG candidates Too Hot to Handle season 6, and quickly became involved in a love triangle. After kissing Lucy, Katherine and Kylisha Jageshar on the first night, the authoritative Lana sent him into exile. There, the British model realized that his feelings were very strong for Lucy.
Back at the getaway, Charlie apologizes to Lucy with a saxophone serenade. They seem to be getting closer as Katherine continues with the season 5 alum Louis Russell. In the second batch of new episodes, now streaming on Netflix, Charlie realized that he was even more attracted to Katherine.
“I think that in the position I'm in now, I think and say that relationships should make you grow and should make you happy,” said Charlie. Us. “I think that as soon as I was with Lucy, I felt more secure, more tied down, and I wasn't happy in that situation, whereas with Kat, even the conversation was fun for me.”
He continued, “I just had to follow that impulse and just find it and try it. When I first heard that, I realized, 'Okay, if I have these feelings, then Lucy is not right for me so I have to go and explore another option.' That's all I went and did.”
According to Charlie, since Too Hot to Handle participants have a “short time” in the villa, it is important to act on feelings or decisions “immediately.” Part of Charlie's thinking comes down to the lack of physicality with Lucy.
“I said this to him [Lucy] while we're in there [that] not having a body between us makes it hard for me to know,” Charlie said Thursday. That's because in the past that was kind of how I interacted with people, but it's less about the body and whether or not we were kissing and making out a lot, and more about whether we felt like we really wanted to do that in that situation?”
Charlie knew he loved Lucy – and still insists the VIP manager is a “nice girl” – but found their connection too safe.
“People called us 'the mom and dad of the shelter,' and it felt like the mom and dad of the shelter because it was like, 'We have all these kids and we're watching them all the time.' taking care of children that we don't really enjoy,'” explains Charlie. “I am a 21-year-old boy; I don't need that. I know it might seem like, 'Oh, I was seeing Kat doing so much with Louis and Lucy that wasn't giving me that energy, so I jumped ship' … but for me, that's it. for a second, that's not how I felt.”
While Charlie was partnered with Lucy, Katherine and Louis, 22, were together and often broke Lana's no-sex rules. After choosing Katherine in the final days of the retreat, Charlie had to watch his steamy trysts with Louis play out on the Netflix series when filming wrapped.
“It's not an easy thing to see in the world,” Charlie admitted Us. “I watched it with all my friends and we were sitting around and my friends said to me, 'You know what, Charlie? The one you just watched is hard.' And they were like, 'I couldn't handle watching my girlfriend do that … but if anyone can handle it, it's you.'”
Too Hot to Handle is currently streaming on Netflix. New episodes drop on Fridays.
