Kristin Cavallari admittedly he is in “the best shape” of his life, but there was a time when he hated certain foods.
“There was a time in my life where I wouldn't go near a carb,” Cavallari, 37, told Bustle in an interview published Thursday, July 25. “I was afraid of even carrots for a while because I was doing keto combined with intermittent fasting, and I actually think it messed up my metabolism, and it took me a year to settle down. Now this freedom with food has been really good.”
The former reality star said that she is currently “eating the most carbohydrates I've ever had,” explaining that her life is “centered” on her three children. (Cavallari shares Camden, 11, Jaxon, 10, and Saylor, 8, with ex-husband Jay Cutler.)
“I have no help with my children. “I don't have an assistant right now, so I don't have time for anything else,” he told Bustle. “All I want to do is make money from my podcast and Uncommon James and do what I need to do for them.”
Throughout the interview, Cavallari also spoke candidly about how his life changed following his split from Cutler, 41, in 2020 after 10 years together.
“[The divorce] that's when I gave up a lot of control, and I let life happen in front of me instead of trying to plan everything and control everything,” Cavallari said. “I'm very happy and I have a lot of peace in my life, so it works for me.”
Previously, Cavalari was open about the weight he lost while he and Cutler were filming Very Cavallari – just before their divorce.
“I was too thin,” the first Laguna Beach the star shared in an episode of her podcast “Let's Be Honest” last month. “I'll put it right guys. I am 5'3. I currently weigh 114 pounds. Filming Very Cavalari, I got down to 102, and I was eating the same amount of food I eat now.”
Cavalari told the audience that he was “unhappy and depressed” at that time in his life.
“I look back at pictures from that time and I'm like, 'Holy s–t.' I was thin,” he continued. “I was skin and bones. I looked like st.”
Cavalari said he looks “a lot better now” when he thinks about how far he's come.
“Guys, it was just stressful. That was a really unhappy marriage, honestly,” he added. “Honestly, I wasn't very happy, and I had too much on my plate.”
