Key Takeaways

  • The iPad Pro has just been updated.
  • The iPhone 16 lineup will include four new models with minor design changes.
  • Many other products are expected to be renewed before the end of the year.

Autumn is fast approaching. For students, the season marks back to school, but for Apple, it usually means a new iPhone, Apple Watch, and sometimes even more. Since the iPad Pro has just been updated and the Apple Vision Pro is expanding outside the United States, there are many products that Apple fans are waiting to see a major technological release before the end of the year. Let’s go through the long list.

1 iPhone 16 edition

Four models have been updated

With almost identical consistency, we can expect Apple to release a new generation of iPhones every September. This year, we expect to see four new models, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 lineup is not expected to be much different than before, keeping the same display size and minor design updates like the pill-shaped rear camera. We will likely see an upgraded A18 chip for improved speed, performance, and battery life. It’s also possible that the phones will feature a new “camera button” dedicated to taking pictures.

2 Apple Watch Series X

It’s 10, not X

Apple Watch Series X announced 10 (don’t be @ me), is expected to launch this fall to celebrate its tenth anniversary. For a while, it was believed that the Apple Watch would receive a major redesign, such as using new magnetic bands. However, those ambitious rumors have been shelved. The Apple Watch Series X will likely look very similar to the Series 9 that came before it but with an improved processor, a brighter display, and, if we’re lucky, a new health sensor.

3 Apple Watch SE (third generation)

Plastic or not plastic

Since the Apple Watch Series 3 was discontinued, the Apple Watch SE has been Apple’s most affordable entry into the product line. Like the Apple Watch Series X, the 3rd generation Apple Watch SE could see a larger display alongside a faster processor. It’s also possible that Apple could switch to plastic from aluminum for the watch to improve durability and appeal to kids.

But is Ultra enough?

Following in the footsteps of the other two expected Apple Watch models, the 3rd generation Apple Watch Ultra will not feature much of a redesign. Similar to last year’s Ultra update, it will only see a faster S10 chip and other minor improvements. If we’re lucky, we could see newly integrated health sensors or a possible redesign for the rumored Apple Watch Series X.

More power

With the unveiling of the M4 chip with the new iPad Pros, experts have been buzzing, wondering when Apple’s Mac lineups will begin to see the chip, alongside the Pro, Max, and Ultra variants. We probably won’t see any major redesigns of the current Mac hardware; After all, all the models still look great. However, we can expect an M4 MacBook Air at some point, with the Mac Studio, Mac mini, Mac Pro, and MacBook Pros getting variants of the more powerful M4 chip. There have also been rumors that the iMac is being updated with the M4 chip, so if you’ve been waiting to buy one of Apple’s desktop computers, it might be your time soon.

Interestingly, Apple may release two pairs of AirPods this year. One pair is expected to replace the third generation of the current AirPods with the addition of Active Noise Cancellation and Find My. The rumored second pair is believed to be a more affordable replacement for the second generation AirPods Apple is still selling at a lower price.

USB-C, anyone?

I’m patiently waiting for Apple to release the new AirPods Max. It seems, we are getting very close to Apple releasing something. It’s about how much we’re going to get. The second generation of AirPods Max will likely remain largely the same as its predecessor, except for lightning over USB-C and a few new colors. Things change right there.

Unfortunately, the AirPods Pro update will still have to wait. We don’t know much about the potential update, except that we could see a redesign focused on comfort, possibly even removing the trunk and opting for a pure bud design. Next to the new H3 chip, it is also possible that the AirPods Pro will be the first to bring health tracking to Apple’s earbuds with temperature sensors.

More repetitions

Like most of this list, the 7th generation iPad mini isn’t expected to see much of an update. Of course, given how long it’s been without an update, any update is welcome. Apple’s smallest iPad will probably get a new chip along with new colors.

10 iPad (11th generation)

More hand-me-down tech

In general, Apple’s low-cost iPad doesn’t draw a big crowd, given that it’s a do-it-yourself technology at an affordable price. The 11th generation iPad is expected to continue that trend by staying largely the same as the 10th generation model, except perhaps with a bigger battery and a better display.

Since FaceTime, Zoom, and other video calling apps came to tvOS, many requests have been made for Apple to release the Apple TV with a camera and microphone or provide the option to connect a webcam.
